The Keeper of The Temple

Some people find rope. Rope found me.

I did not walk into Shibari knowing what it would become. I walked in curious, a little nervous, and completely unprepared for how deeply it would change my life. What started as an exploration became a practice. What became a practice became a community. And what became a community became everything.

For five years I built that community in South Africa under the name Shibari South Africa. I created spaces where people could come as they were - no experience needed, no judgment waiting at the door. Just rope, trust and the willingness to show up. I watched complete strangers become friends. I watched people discover parts of themselves they did not know existed. I watched rope do what rope does - connect people in ways that words simply cannot.

Then life asked me to begin again.

When I immigrated to the UK I carried everything with me. Not just my rope - but everything I had learned about holding space for people. About what it means to create something that feels safe. About why this art form deserves to be taken seriously and shared with care.

The Rope Temple is that beginning.

It is not just a shop. It is not just a workshop space. It is a continuation of something that started years ago in a different country with a small group of curious people who just wanted to learn.

I built this for them. And I built it for you.

Whatever brings you here - curiosity, practice, community, or simply a love of beautiful rope , you are in the right place.

Welcome to the temple.

With love,Iris

Rope is more than technique - it is a language of trust, presence and human connection.
