Rope as Ritual — A Conscious Shibari Workshop Bristol | 24 Oct
Rope as Ritual is not a class.
It is not a performance. It is not a space where you need to know what you are doing or arrive with a partner or have any idea what Shibari is supposed to look like on your body.
It is an afternoon designed around one thing only.
Coming back to yourself through rope.
Over four unhurried hours in Bristol we will explore conscious Shibari practice — solo self-tying and partner work both welcomed and held equally, with nervous system regulation woven through every moment of the afternoon. This is rope as it was always meant to be practiced. Slowly. Intentionally. With genuine attention to the body and what it is actually telling you.
No rushing. No pressure. No performance.
Just the rope, the room and you.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
We open with a grounding practice, breath, body awareness and the quality of presence that makes everything that follows richer, safer and more genuinely felt.
From there we move into rope. Some people will explore self-tying, the meditative, deeply personal practice of tying your own body with intention and care. Others will work with a partner. Both are equally welcome, equally held and equally valid ways of spending the afternoon.
I move through the space throughout, teaching, guiding, answering questions and holding the room with the same warmth and attentiveness I bring to every Rope Temple experience.
We close with aftercare and integration time. Space to land before you step back into the world. Space to feel what actually happened rather than rushing past it.
You will leave differently from how you arrived.
THIS AFTERNOON IS FOR YOU IF:
You are completely new to Shibari and want a warm unhurried space to begin, with or without a partner. You practice solo and want a held community space for self-tying. You have tried rope before and want to go deeper into the embodied and nervous system dimensions of the practice. You are carrying stress in your body and need something that works at the level of sensation and regulation rather than just the mind. You simply need an afternoon that belongs entirely to you.
YOU DO NOT NEED A PARTNER:
This workshop is fully curated for solo attendees and self-tying practice.
Self-tying, the practice of applying rope to your own body with intention and care, is one of the most meditative and deeply personal dimensions of Shibari. It requires no partner, no negotiation and no performance for anyone else.
Just you, the rope and whatever you find when you slow down enough to listen.
If you do come with a partner that is equally wonderful. Both experiences are held with equal care throughout the afternoon.

A NOTE FROM IRIS:
I started this drop in series because I kept meeting people who needed rope but felt like they could not access it, because they did not have a partner, because they were not ready for a structured course, because they needed to arrive somewhere slowly rather than be taught at.
Rope as Ritual is for all of those people.
It is for the person who has been curious for months and finally feels ready. For the solo practitioner who wants a community space to explore. For the experienced rigger who wants to return to the foundations and feel them differently. For anyone whose nervous system is carrying more than it should and who knows, somewhere deep in the body, that rope might be the thing that helps.
Come as you are. Come alone. Come with someone. Come not knowing what you need and trust that the rope will show you.
I will be there the whole time.
With love, Iris x
